Motorola RAZR HD

Motorola RAZR HD

With the Motorola RAZR, the mobile phone pioneer wanted to recapture the legacy and its past successes. The Americans truly succeeded in developing a fantastic smartphone that’s a sight to behold. And they probably thought: If it works once, it will work again, when they launched the RAZR Maxx, a version with a more powerful battery.

But Motorola doesn’t seem to be content with that, as rumors and now images of a new RAZR smartphone have surfaced online in recent days. Information about the Motorola RAZR HD leaked out more or less by accident and thanks to a careless Motorola employee.

HD display, Ice Cream Sandwich, and mega battery

The Motorola RAZR HD is said to have a 4.6-inch HD display, making it even larger than the RAZR’s predecessor. The leaked images—assuming they’re authentic—show that Motorola has completely dispensed with hardware buttons. This is a clear indication of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but anything else would be truly disappointing. There’s also talk of a massive 3,300 mAh battery. The processor is said to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4, clocked at 1.5 GHz.

Good camera and LTE

Information about the Motorola RAZR HD came to light when a Motorola employee uploaded images taken with Motorola’s new flagship model to Picasa. These images also reveal that it will feature a 12 or 13 MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. An LTE module is also reportedly installed.

Motorola RAZR HD also in Europe?

If Motorola really does bring a souped-up version of the RAZR to market with an HD display, powerful battery, LTE module, and Android 4.0, that would be a reason to celebrate. The first RAZR smartphone already stood out with its good workmanship and high-quality materials. And a really powerful battery is, of course, absolutely desirable. The biggest sticking point: the size. The RAZR was already quite unwieldy for small hands; even the larger Galaxy Nexus fits better in the hand. Furthermore, the question naturally arises as to why a dual-core processor should be used when current high-end devices like the HTC One X and presumably the Samsung Galaxy S3 already come with a quad-core processor. Nevertheless, we can be excited and hope that Motorola will also bring the RAZR HD to the European market. Rumors have it that it will be available in China soon.
